Food Photography and Still Life Photography test the creativity and techniques of a
photographer. In this type of production, the photographer needs to have control and
total knowledge about the dish or object to be photographed, knowledge about light and
ideal lenses, as well as elements of composition. Being well-made, the photo gives a
special value to the product, helping it in its presentation and commercialisation. The
knowledge of the products is essential in my work, having studied culinary and loving
food makes all the difference when I am photographing. The technique Still Life
Photography is based on still life painting, its application in the food involves
knowledge in composition, study of art, Macro Photography and Design. The preparation
of light is the most important in each composition, so this is the main tool for this
type of work, to know the light deeply and to know how to use it. For each photo that
Cookery Photo & Co is hired for, a study of the brand, the origin of the ingredients of
each dish, the chef that is preparing and the history of that food. Based on this
information all the creation of the scene where the dish will be photographed and
produced and the painting is born. For me each photograph is a blank canvas waiting for
my brushstrokes, always.
